A TOP Noughties pop star has candidly opened up on her battle with depression following her nationwide fame.
Suzanne Shaw, 41, who was part of the band Hear'Say, opened up on her mental health on Thursday's Lorraine show.
The Pure and Simple songstress told how her anxiety hit after her time in the band, which she joined aged just 19.
Suzanne, who also starred in Emmerdale as Eve Jenson, told how she had suffered "severe and scary" panic attacks as a child.
Yet she told host Lorraine Kelly: "I don't ever remember suffering from anxiety until after the band.
"I think it was such a big thing to go through.

"That overwhelm and anxiety really manifested in depression for me."
She continued: "It was tough. At some points I would really fear leaving the house.
"I would be in my bed and my self esteem was so low at times."
Suzanne candidly said: "My self esteem was shot.

"I would self sabotage - nobody hated me more than me.
"I had to try to hide that, I hid that for a long time."
The TV star told how she hod her mental illness as she feared she would not be taken seriously due to being a celebrity.
Last year, she told how she quit booze after fearing blackouts and flashing her boobs.
She made her decision to go sober in 2020.
At the time, she told The Sun: "Boozy Suzy or Suzy Boozy – those were my nicknames in my 20s. I was always the one on the dance floor making a fool of herself, and the centre of attention at every wedding or party.
"I don’t know why, but I would often get my boobs out in the middle of a party – and then I’d wake up with “beer fear” in the morning. It was those kinds of moments that made me think: “Why would I do that?
"I just didn’t know how to drink in moderation, and in 2019, I really hit rock bottom. At weekends I was taking it that little bit too far, then it started creeping into my week and I was drinking a lot at home."
On today's ITV show she added: "I knew removing alcohol was going to be the making of my wellbeing."
